Presentation
I have never had to prepare a presentation and present such important information to people in positions of authority. I have done speeches for teachers and in front of my classmates because it was a requirement but never anything like this. So my question is, what is the best approach to a presentation? I have been told that telling a joke will break the ice, but in a situation where someone is advocating an issue, will it be unprofessional? Do you think it would have a negative impact on the way that the audience will look at you? Have any of you ever been in a situation such as this? If so, how did you begin? Also, is it best to memorize what you are going to say so that you sound less robotic or should you have the flash cards to ensure you won't miss any important points; or both?

Module 3 post
Confusius once said that In a country well governed, poverty is something to be ashamed of. In a country badly governed, wealth is something to be ashamed of.
And Dr. King stated that It is a tragic mix-up when the United States spends $500,000 for every enemy soldier killed, and only $53 annually on the victims of poverty.
These are two quotes that I find extremely inspirational and disturbing. I have always been the type of person who loved to help people. If I saw someone without, I would give them my last. I am now inspired and excited about the fact that I am now able to work with people who have been doing this for years and know the ends and outs of helping others. I can network with businesses and companies and organizations whose main purpose is to improve the living conditions of others. There are things that I can learn from the one on one experiences that I can't simply reading about it.
The challenges and anxieties I feel is the lack of progress. Other people and organizations have been addressing the issue of poverty for many many years and in the community I am working at, The poverty level has increased drastically. It is estimated to be at 99% with no relief in site. What is going on that despite additional resources, the condition of this community is worsening. Where do we start to fix this problem(s)? Is this a problem that can be fixed? What can I bring to the table that can benefit the community?
To overcome any challenge, I know I must remain calm regardless of the situation and always have a plan. For example, if I was scheduled to march at a specific location because it would bring more results but II was told I would have to march in a more remote location at last minute, I would find another way to reach out to the people in that district although it may not be physically. I could leave them fact sheets about the reason for our march. Fighting and becoming upset will usually result in an arrest. I also believe that being persistent about my cause and showing proof of my actions will also be effective. Some people are reluctant to help or give because they are afraid of being taken advantage of. If I can show them what I am doing, they may eventually come around.
Encouragement, I believe, comes from wisdom and experiences. When a person goes through something or hears about something a person has experienced, they learn a lesson from it. Those lesson sometimes provides the best adviice and encouragement ever. Encouragement comes from within.
